World Cup beckons for The Big Goal winners

The Street Soccer Foundation has announced that the winners of The Big Goal five-a-side football tournament this year will represent England at the Corporate World Cup.

“This is fantastic news and takes competing in the tournament to an entirely new level,” said Nigel Sergent, Comms Dealer Editor at Large and co-founder of The Big Goal.

“It means the team from our industry that triumphs at The Big Goal National Finals at St George’s Park in September will go on to wear the Three Lions shirt at the 7th World Corporate Champions Cup to be staged in Morocco in October. They will be playing teams from other businesses representing 15 other countries from across the globe. What an incredible honour and a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will be for those players!”

The news gives companies in the ICT sector a massive incentive to enter The Big Goal 2025 before the entry deadline which has been officially extended to Friday 28 February 2025.

“The extended window gives even more companies the chance to be part of the UK’s No.1 football-led initiative tackling youth homelessness,” said CEO of the Street Soccer Foundation, Keith Mabbutt.

“By joining The Big Goal, businesses not only make a tangible difference in supporting vulnerable young people nationwide, but they also gain the opportunity to take part in the biggest national 5-a-side football tournament, supported by Sky Sports, that could now lead to an unforgettable experience representing England in Morocco.”

With excitement already building for this year’s tournament, The Big Goal 2025, once again sponsored by Giacom, will see companies competing in regional tournaments across the country as follows:

Southern Finals: Friday April 11TH 2025 – hosted by Brentford FC

Northern Finals: Friday April 25TH 2025 – hosted by Sheffield Wednesday FC

Midlands Finals: Friday May 9TH 2025 – hosted by Derby County FC

The National Finals will then take place later in the year at The Home of England Football – St George’s Park – in September 2025, staged inside the famous Sir Alf Ramsay Arena.

“This is an unmissable opportunity for ICT businesses to show their commitment to social impact while engaging in an unforgettable sporting experience. Whether opting for an Exclusive or Non-Exclusive membership, all companies signing up will secure their place in the tournament, but spaces are limited so act now to secure your team spot,” added Sergent.
