Govt to spend £240m on GP Telephony Overhaul

The government will invest over £240m to enable GP surgeries to embrace modern telephony and replace old analogue phones with modern systems in anticipation of the 2025 Switch off.

This will enable receptionists to gather information and make sure patients are directed to the most suitable healthcare professional, simplifying and streamlining the process.

Minister for Health, Neil O’Brien, said: “Where GPs have already moved over to these new technologies we see they free up the phones, making it much easier for people to get through to their general practice team.”

This will present resellers with an opportunity to engage with the health sector on a massive scale through on-hold messaging solutions, states Andrew Jones, Director AudPro (pictured).

He said: “Messaging on Hold offers far more than just on-hold music and messaging, it provides resellers with satisfied customers, organisations with a seamless system, and callers with the information they need; something that GP surgeries will value as demand for consultations continues to increase.”
