Giganet founder Skipsey steps down after 19 years

Andrew Skipsey (pictured) is handing over the reins at Giganet after founding the business back in 2003.

Skipsey oversaw the transition of Giganet, which began life as M12 Solutions, from a voice-only telecoms firm to a business to business and consumer ISP which received £250m funding last year to create its own full fibre network.

He said: “Now is the time for me to hand over to the next generation. At Giganet our ‘family feel’ is still very much a part of the DNA of the business.

“I am proud of our team who have helped us achieve steady growth, valuable credentials and industry awards. I will be taking some valuable time out before deciding what my next venture might be.”

The Senior Management Team led by CEO Jarlath Finnegan will guide Giganet’s next stages of growth. Giganet plans to hire over 50 new members of staff by the end of 2022, taking its headcount over 200.

CEO Finnegan added: “What Andrew and the original team achieved with M12 Solutions right through to obtaining the funding last April will enable us to drive Giganet forward and is a fantastic testament to them.

“I would like to take this opportunity to wish Andrew the absolute best in whatever the future holds for him on both a personal and business level.”
