Derby set for TalkTalk full fibre boost

TalkTalk is ramping up its full fibre programme, offering residents in Derby 100% full fibre directly into the home in conjunction with CityFibre and Openreach.

The expansion is a result of enhanced demand for connectivity services in the city, with internet usage on TalkTalk’s network rising by an average of 44% in Derby between January 2020 and April 2021.

Dan Orton, Senior VP of Sales at Velez Managed Services, who have an office in Derby, said: "This is a great thing for the county and very much needed as the current offerings aren’t great. Greater connectivity and and an improved service will help speed up good business."

Full fibre will come as good news to the people of Derby as Openreach project that connecting everyone to full fibre will give a £3.5bn benefit to the East Midlands.

Jonathan Kini, MD of TalkTalk Direct Business and Consumer, said: We believe fast, affordable, full fibre broadband should be accessible to all. This has been brought into even sharper focus by culture changes resulting from the pandemic.”

Dominika Walker, City Manager for CityFibre in Derby, added: “Our £45m investment in Derby has already provided residents and businesses in large areas of the city with gigabit-capable connectivity and work is continuing to bring our Full Fibre network within reach of almost every home and business.”
