Economic uncertainty drives outsourcing to MSPs

Businesses are looking to outsource more IT services to MSPs amidst increasing economic uncertainty, finds Kaseya.

Currently 80% of respondents to the vendor’s 2023 IT Operations report said they outsource one or more IT services to an MSP, up from 64% in 2022.  The top three functions that are being outsourced are IT security, network monitoring and cloud infrastructure management.

This is set to rise again as IT professionals are becoming overworked, 40% admitted to working 50+ hour weeks consecutively, and money becomes tighter, 18% cited a decrease in their 2023 IT budget.

A primary area for outsourcing will be cybersecurity which 40% of respondents name as their foremost IT challenge in 2023. About 22% of the respondents anticipate staffing growth in cybersecurity, either through new hires or outsourcing.
