Community Fibre finds rural foothold with Box Broadband buy

London-centric altnet Community Fibre has acquired Box Broadband to expand its footprint into Surrey and West Sussex.

Community Fibre’s funding will drive Box Broadband towards its aim of connecting 200,000 homes across the South of England by 2024. Box has currently connected 7,000 homes.

Community Fibre themselves recently announced that it had passed 300,000 London homes and 12,000 businesses in its full fibre build.

Oxby said: With our backing from Warburg Pincus, DTP, Amber Infrastructure and Railpen, we will be able to support Box Broadband’s ambitious growth plans.”

Box Broadband will continue to operate as an independent entity with Graham Sarwood continuing as CEO.
