ADTRAN merges with ADVA to create global fibre leader

ADTRAN and ADVA have merged to create a global end-to-end fibre networking solution provider with an expected £870m combined revenue.

American fibre specialist ADTRAN signed a deal with Openreach in May last year to provide the ISP with its optical line terminal posts and Mosaic Cloud platform. ADTRAN also provides networking infrastructure to Community Fibre.

The combined business will offer a portfolio for providing homes, businesses and 5G infrastructure with fibre connectivity, paired with cloud-managed Wi-Fi connectivity and SaaS applications.

ADTRAN CEO Thomas Stanton said: “We are in the early stages of an investment cycle in fibre connectivity in the U.S. and Europe.

Our combined firm’s portfolio will better position us to capitalise on this global opportunity and improve our ability to serve as a trusted supplier for customers worldwide.”
