Highgate makes four-day week permanent

Highgate IT Solutions is moving to a permanent four-day work week following a six-month trial running from 1st April this year.

The company will remain operational five days a week through a buddying system which ensure all work is covered.

During the trial, Highgate worked with Ultimate Resilience, a team of clinical psychologists, to monitor employee wellbeing and experience.

At the start of the trial, most Highgate employees agreed they were happy with their work/life balance. At the end of the trial, the majority strongly agreed with the same statement.

Additionally at the end of the trial period, all employees disagreed or strongly disagreed that they felt emotionally drained from their work or emotionally burned out from their work.

Highgate also boasted a record month in sales during May, the second month of its trial.

MD Stuart Marginson said: “We needed to find a balance between the wellbeing of our employees and the success of the business.

“We made many tweaks to the four-day week structure to find a solution that works for us and I am delighted to be making this a permanent change.”
