Octium, the holding company that owns Griffin, has bought managed IT services player MBD for an undisclosed cash sum. The acquisition prompted a structuring of the group and sparked a recruitment campaign to drive forward the investment. Andrew Dickinson, formerly the Sales and Marketing Director, is taking the Griffin helm as Managing Director, and Adrian Sunderland, formerly CTO of Griffin, is moving to head up MBD.
John Dawson has been promoted to CEO of Octium to create an active management holding company providing overall leadership, governance and some shared services. The company is also looking to recruit in key areas such as account management, marketing and development to support the new structure.
MBD will become the focus for all product development within the group, providing Griffin with access to a stream of new white label applications which can be sold on a monthly, per-seat basis as well as improving the feature set of existing products.
Andrew Dickinson, MD, Griffin, noted: "We predict that cloud computing is going to have a big impact in the channel over the next few years. Griffin has a supportive holding company investing in best of breed technology to enable us to quickly launch white label managed applications to the market.
"Demand is high for per seat applications that are easy to sell, help to reduce churn and increase ARPU significantly."
