Magdalene signs two contacts with National Grid

Magdalene will deliver critical communications services for the National Grid through a contract that runs until 2035.

It will support and maintain the National Grid Operational Telecom Network infrastructure (OpTel).

A second contract, signed for an initial five years, will see Magdalene deliver a nationwide network upgrade of the current OpTel infrastructure.

As part the programme Magdalene is designing and building a resilient High Bandwidth Optical Overlay network. Partnered with ADTRAN, it will provide the network technology to support future network services.

Through both contracts, Magdalene will utilise full fibre infrastructure to upgrade the existing MPLS network, with BT.

Sam Saunders, MD at Magdalene, said: “The award of these contracts reflects National Grid’s confidence in our innovative technical solution and robust service delivery model.”
