Vorboss set to recruit 100 apprentices

Fibre provider Vorboss is to recruit 100 apprenticeship installation engineers over the next 12 months following a partnership with The Institute of Telecommunications Professionals (ITP) that also helps to plug the digital skills gap.

The ITP will oversee the academic learning, development and ongoing mentoring of Vorboss's recruits.

ITP CEO Crissi Williams said: “The number of 16 to 24-year-olds in employment is at a record low. Apprenticeships stats are also down.

“We hope that this partnership will encourage other employers use apprenticeships to solve the skills gap.”

A quarter of the Vorboss workforce are apprentices and this recruitment drive will increase its headcount by over 300%.

Vorboss Chief of Staff Lauren Dutnall said: “Apprentices bring a different outlook on the way we do things and they are so willing to get involved and learn as much as possible.

“Our apprentices play such a critical role in the business and in the wider industry.”
