IoT specialist 1248 appoints new CMO

Gordon Ellis-Brown has been appointed Chief Marketing and Creative Officer at UK Internet of Things (IoT) company 1248.

He is tasked with driving the international marketing operation following the launch of the company's new flagship product earlier this month.

DevicePilot is an ‘as-a-service' solution that continuously monitors and manages connected devices in the IoT ecosystem at large scale.

Ellis-Brown joins 1248 from Unilever and has over 25 years marketing experience with large multinational companies as well as small and medium sized businesses.

He has worked for major brands including 20th Century Fox International, Carphone Warehouse and RedCat, who represent Harrods, L'Oréal and Harvey Nichols.

Initially starting his career in the B2B sector working for Inmac Corporation in Silicon Valley, Ellis-Brown later returned to the UK to move into direct marketing and FMCG.

Ellis-Brown said: "As the IoT moves from hype to reality and with Internet connected products growing at 25% per year, automatic asset management, monitoring and lifetime support becomes an essential component of the IoT ecosystem."

Pilgrim Beart, CEO at 1248, added: "Gordon will play a key role in harnessing the opportunities presented by the fast moving IoT market across sectors and geographies by targeting key stakeholders responsible for deploying and managing IoT applications at scale."
