Swyx acquired by private equity firm Waterland

German software vendor Swyx has been acquired by PE firm Waterland, adding software-based telephony and UC to the investor's IT sector portfolio which includes financial software company Hanse Orga Group HQ'd in Hamburg and Netherlands hosting firm Intelligent Group.

Dortmund-based Swyx has offices in the UK and France and according to CEO and co-founder Ralf Ebbinghaus the deal opens the door to new opportunities for European expansion.

The company has traditionally focused in the mid-market and boasts one million users in 24 countries supported by over 1,200 authorised partners.

"In 1999 we started to make the classic telephone system superfluous, and at the same time enable companies to communicate more efficiently and make their processes more productive," stated Ebbinghaus.

"One year before our 20th anniversary and with a new shareholder we have great growth potential outside Germany. Together with Waterland we will now be able to exploit this potential."
