Report flags possible Macquarie-TalkTalk Wholesale deal

Macquarie could enter exclusive talks this week to buy a 40% stake in TalkTalk’s Wholesale business, Platform X, reports Sky.

Sky sources state that the Australian banking firm is proposing to invest £450m into PlatformX. It is possible an exclusivity agreement could be signed before the end of the week.

The report states that proceeds would be partly used to pay down the company's debt and reveals that other companies including Digital Bridge, had also looked at buying a stake in PlatformX.

TalkTalk remains in the process of demerging its main operating business into three standalone companies, with March 1st signalling legal separation.

Its Business Direct unit was acquired by its shareholders for £95m last year.
