Equinix builds £61m data centre in Manchester

Equinix is building a new £61m IBX data centre in Manchester to support digital transformation projects across all industries. It will offer colocation, interconnection and edge services to help businesses grow in global markets.

The data centre is Equinix’s fifth in Manchester and is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2022.

VP of Sales, UK, Lorraine Wilkinson, said: “MA5 will provide high-speed connectivity to the north of England, facilitating the next generation of digital transformation within the region. The new site will bring Equinix’s total investment in Manchester to over £130m, and £1bn+ in the UK’s digital infrastructure.”

UK MD Russell Poole, added: “The site will cater to the growing number of enterprises, both regionally and internationally, that require ultra-low-latency connectivity to remain competitive.”
