Telent formalises Net Zero pledge

Telent commits to climate action

Telent has furthered its climate crusade by signing up to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), which provides companies with a clearly defined path to reducing emissions in line with the Paris Agreement goals.

The digital infrastructure specialist is committed to matching the UK’s climate targets to deliver ‘net zero’ by 2050 and will now use SBTi’s five step programme to help it achieve this goal.

Telent has completed the first step of the SBTi which was to ‘Commit’ by submitting a letter establishing the intent to set a science-based target. It must now focus on the ‘Develop’ phase which will involve working on an emissions reduction target in line with the SBTi’s criteria.

The remaining steps involve; ‘Submitting’ its target to the SBTi for official validation, ‘Communicating’ its target and informing Telent stakeholders, and ‘Disclosing’ by reporting company-wide emissions and track target progress annually.

Anmarie Landi QEHS Director at Telent, said: “As we look to the future, we will be offering more environmental and sustainable solutions to our customers to support their sustainability objectives. We will also continue to partner with our supply chain to share benefits and learning.”

Telent has put work in place already to reduce its impact on the environment, such as converting one of its key London fleets to electric vehicles and going single-use cup free at its main offices.
