New UC distributor Pragma has announced LG Ericsson as its primary vendor partner. The company, headed up by former Crane and Westcon heavyweights David George, Tim Brooks and Will Morey will aim to position the global UC player as a major solution alternative and offer a premiership service to UK resellers struggling for support and service from the more established vendors.
Brooks told Comms Dealer: "LG Ericsson has a powerful roadmap including Cloud and mobility integration but we feel people in general are some way off from embracing the Cloud completely so our approach will be to help resellers migrate their business model to these new opportunities in a measured way.
"Moving an IPPBX into a cloud environment does not necessarily deliver immediate benefits to the end user. We see a hybrid model as being the way forward. We also strongly believe that resellers still value high quality and personal sales, technical support and training."
The partnership represents a ‘back to the future' strategy for Pragma chairman David George who started Crane Distribution in 1991 as the first distributor of Lucky Goldstar (LG) telephone systems.
"Our first ever headline in the trade press was ‘Going for Gold' which is quite appropriate with what is happening in Britain now," said George. "Crane grew along with its resellers by focusing on and supporting their needs and Pragma will do this too."
Tony Parish, CEO Aura Aliance and G3 commented: "I have worked with David, Tim and Will over many years and know this venture will be a huge success. Their knowledge of the UK reseller channel and open and honest approach to business is what resellers really need from a distributor."
"IP telephony and SIP are now widely accepted. The connectivity has become more affordable and businesses are moving key services to the cloud. We see a majority of new RFPs requesting hosted."
