September 4th sees Ian Harris and Karl Hassall from IntelligentComms swapping their office chairs for the saddle when they set off on a 1000 mile bike ride from John O'Groats to Land's End in aid of Cancer Research UK. From the 4th to the 13th September they will be riding through rain, sun and wind on their route from the north east of Scotland to the south west of England, as well as cycling through the Isle of Arran and into Wales - just to mix it up a little.
While the fastest time to complete the route is 1 day 20 hours, 4 minutes, and 20 seconds, the IntelligentComms pair are planning on a leisurely 10 day schedule. They will average 100 miles per day, which equates to roughly 35,000 revolutions on the pedals and burning around 10,000 calories per day. Stated harris: "That means in theory we're allowed 83 bottles of Magners each day!"
