Institute of Telecommunications Professionals launches 11th annual awards

The Institute of Telecommunications Professionals (ITP) has launched its 11th annual awards and put out a call for entries.

The awards will be held on 4th October 2018 at Raddisson Blu, London, and were originally created to recognise and reward individuals across the industry, evolving over the years to highlight the new talent emerging into the telecoms sector.

Traditionally it was down to the entrant to nominate themselves, but for the first year line managers can also now nominate their employees for the following categories:

• Apprentice of the year
• Mentor of the year
• Christopher Mills Award
• Woman in Telecoms
• Engineer of the year
• Innovator of the year

"The ITP is passionate about people and their careers, and these awards are our way of recognising the best of the best," said Crissi Williams, CEO of the ITP.

"We are on the lookout for the amazing innovators, apprentices who are making a real difference to their organisation, and those who are developing a name for themselves as the go-to engineers in their businesses. These awards give nominees a real boost and are a real accolade at such a pivotal point of their careers."

The Christopher Mills Award celebrates apprentices who demonstrate a great use of ICT or maths and comes with a £500 prize from the Mills family.

All qualifying apprentice of the year applications are also automatically entered. In addition to its Annual Awards, the ITP runs its own telecoms apprenticeship scheme, and since its launch in 2013 has created more than 60 jobs in the industry.
