Distributor DMSL is offering a free telecoms audit to SMBs in a bid to generate leads for its hosted voice services partners.
The audit looks at the cost savings that could be made by switching to alternative call plans or hosted voice services. So far the audits have typically identified potential savings of between 20-60%.
John Carter, MD of DMSL, said: "many businesses have lines that they do not use, and most of them could be on a call plan that will save them anything of between a quarter and a third off their current call costs, All they need to do is switch to that service.
"In more extreme cases we've been able to show organisations how they can make even greater savings and become more flexible and responsive to their customers by implementing hosted VoIP."
Carter says the timing of the free audit offer coincides with growing pressure on businesses to trim their costs and ensure that they are insulated from the possibility of a double dip.
"More businesses are also becoming aware of hosted VoIP and other online services," he said. "The market is starting to understand that, not only are these services available, but also that they actually do work and can bring tremendous advantages."
DMSL has already signed up more than 30 resellers nationwide to help it take hosted voice services to market.
"We'd like to double the number of partners we are working with on hosted VoIP before the end of the year," her stated.
"IP telephony and SIP are now widely accepted. The connectivity has become more affordable and businesses are moving key services to the cloud. We see a majority of new RFPs requesting hosted."
