Dairy foods business Dairy Crest has opted for the Avaya Virtual Services Platform 7000 (VSP 7000) as part of a project to overhaul its IT environment across multiple domestic and overseas locations.
Avaya's VSP 7000, a future-ready Ethernet switching platform designed for Top-of-Rack (ToR) server aggregation in high-performance data centres, has helped Dairy Crest to consolidate its ageing, isolated infrastructure and reduce back-up times for business critical systems by 50 per cent.
It is expected that a second data centre will be mirrored later this year, after which Dairy Crest expects to significantly reduce the risk of data loss in the event of a disaster scenario.
"IP telephony and SIP are now widely accepted. The connectivity has become more affordable and businesses are moving key services to the cloud. We see a majority of new RFPs requesting hosted."
