Rivalry in the Unified Communications space is set to hot up as distribution powerhouse Westcoast flexes its muscle. The £1bn firm is launching a complete UC portfolio and has revealed plans to build significantly on its platform.
The Unified Comms market is poised to become much more competitive as Westcoast presses ahead with an ambitious UC channel campaign. The IT solution provider is on track to increase turnover by 15% during the coming year and capitalise on high growth markets such as UC, software security and cloud computing.
UC technology partners include household names such as Microsoft, HP, Audiocodes, Aastra and Sennheiser. "Westcoast believes that a UC solution is not always one-size fits all," stated Scott Somenthal, UC Sales Manager. "That's why we have carefully chosen a number of leading UC vendors that can seamlessly integrate to provide one real-time comms platform."
Westcoast is also in negotiations to provide a SIP Trunk offering and will look to add complementary technologies such as call logging and call recording to its UC kit bag.
Based on partnerships with Microsoft and HP Westcoast has built a Solutions Lab in Milton Keynes to showcase its UC portfolio.
"Today, end users can implement a UC solution from the desktop, integrate their desktop with an existing IP PBX or continue to invest in an IP PBX," added Somenthal. "Westcoast has the solution and the ability to support our partners to deliver any of these scenarios."
The company is engaging with a number of partners ranging from IT VARs, traditional voice, data and traditional mobile resellers.
"Customers require more from a UC distributor than simply product stocking and shipping. They want a distributor that helps to drive innovation as a technology enabler."
