Gamma's significant investment in its network infrastructure, services and applications is paying off. The company now carries over 100 million IP minutes a month across its network, proving that IP Telephony is gaining traction as a viable option for many UK businesses.
Gamma invests heavily in the channel, developing services and applications specifically for partners to take to the SME market. The company has grown to a £180 million business in just five years and is now one of the channel's biggest providers of network minutes, handling over eight billion minutes a year. Gamma has been at the forefront of launching innovative products, claiming to be the first business MVNO offering mobile voice and data services, the provider of the first Inbound product for Geographic numbers, the introduction over two years ago of a variety of hosted IP services for differing business sizes and needs, and the provider of a SIP trunking solution.
Richard Bligh, Group Marketing Director at Gamma, said: "We've enjoyed great success and had fun building the business up to where it is now. Looking forward there is a lot to do and a long way to go. We're confident we'll be working with our channel partners for another five years, and helping them grow their businesses as well."
Bob Falconer, CEO at Gamma, added: "Convergence of fixed, mobile and IP brings complexities, but with complexities there are opportunities for companies fast on their feet. That has been one of Gamma's strengths and will continue to be. It's clear the number of carriers is going to reduce over the coming years. Consolidation is definitely on the cards. Our view is that there will still be a choice for the channel in terms of operators but that choice will be based more around what services are being offered rather than just size and scale of the network. This is where we aim to compete."
Jack Michalski, Managing Director of Welcome Telecom, has been with Gamma since the early days. "It's been fascinating to watch Gamma develop from a traditional minutes wholesaler into a business with a broad service portfolio, and a growing reputation in IP services."
